The Grilled Turkey and Swiss you don’t want to miss

The Grilled Turkey and Swiss you don't want to miss

Grilled Turkey and Swiss Sandwich
Time: 15 minutes (LOVE THAT!!!!)
Yield: 8 sandwiches
Recipe from my sister in law Mary Ehrhart
1 loaf french bread
soft butter
1 1/2 – 2  pounds thinly sliced turkey
1 pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese
2 – 3 tomatoes
Sauce:
1 C mayonnaise
1 1/2 T stone ground mustard
1 1/2 T red onion, chopped fine
1 t dried thyme

Ingredients for the wonderful sauce.
Simple.
Simple and fabulous!
(and fast…..please remember the fast.)
1. Chop up your red onion into tiny pieces. Throw it in a bowl with your mayonnaise and stone ground mustard.
2. Add your dried thyme and stir the sauce together until all ingredients are well combined.
3. Slice up your bread and tomatoes, and turn on your griddle. Just to medium high heat now. We don’t want to burn anything.
4. Spread a little bit of butter on one side of each piece of bread.  Lay it butter side down on the griddle.
5. Cover the other side with the sauce,
then some cheese
and a couple of slices of tomato.
Layer on a nice thick stack of the turkey and
another slice of cheese.
6. Spread some of the tasty sauce on another one of your butter bread slices.
Lay that baby sauce-side-down onto the sandwich. (The side facing up should be buttered.)
7. Let that griddle to its work. Heat that sandwich through….
Flip it over when the bottom is golden brown. Let the sandwich get golden brown on it’s other side and leave time for both slices of cheese to melt.
Like this………………….ooooo…………………..ahhhhh………………..!
8. Remove your sandwich from the griddle and cut it on the diagonal.
Serve it up and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for dropping by today.
Have a good one!

Hoisen tempeh skewers

Hoisen tempeh skewers

NUTTY-tasting tempeh is a highly nutritious fermented food made from soya beans. It is rich in protein and fibre, and makes a sustaining and energising light dish that is also suitable for snacking on. It can be stored in the fridge for up to two days.

Hoisen-tempeh-skewers

Preparation time: 5 minutes plus at least 1 hour marinating

Cooking time: 10 minutes
Serves 4
Ingredients:
400g (14oz) tempeh

3 tbsps hoisin sauce

2 tbsps tamari sauce

2cm (¾in) piece fresh root ginger, peeled and grated

1 red chilli, deseeded and chopped (optional)

1 garlic clove, crushed

3 tbsps mirin or 1 tbsp rice wine

2 tbsps vegetable stock or water

For the pickled cucumber salad:

½ cucumber, cut into long ribbons using a vegetable peeler

1 small red chilli, deseeded and thinly sliced into ribbons (optional)

Juice of ½ lime
2 tbsps rice-wine vinegar

2 tbsps tamari sauce

1 tbsp toasted nori flakes

2 tbsps finely chopped coriander, to serve
Method:
Pat the tempeh dry and cut it into 2cm (¾in) cubes. Mix together the hoisin and tamari sauces, ginger, chilli (if using), garlic, mirin and stock. Put the tempeh into a shallow dish and pour over the marinade. Leave to marinate for 1 hour or overnight.

To make the salad, put the cucumber ribbons into a bowl with the chilli (if using). Mix together the remaining ingredients except the coriander and pour over the cucumber. Leave to marinate for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, soak 8 wooden skewers in water.

Preheat the grill to high. Line a baking tray with baking parchment. Thread 4 pieces of tempeh on to each skewer and put on to the tray. Grill for 8-10 minutes until golden, turning occasionally and brushing with marinade. Sprinkle the coriander over the salad and serve with the tempeh.

Mobile Phone

Sony Xperia review

Pros

  • Beautiful 5-inch Full HD display
  • Sleek, strong, waterproof design
  • Pleasing OS and UI combination

Cons

  • Handset quickly becomes smeared mess
  • Becomes excessive hot during use
  • Disappointing battery life

Key Features: 5-inch 1080p display; 1.5GHz quad-core processor; IP57 waterproof protection

Sony Xperia Z Review - Introduction, Design and Screen

Introduction

Having fallen slightly by the wayside in the recent smartphone stakes, Sony is back with its biggest and best handset to date, the 5-inch Sony Xperia Z.

Sony Xperia Z

Despite the handset measuring in at a superbly svelte 7.9mm thick, the Sony Xperia Z screen is an expansive and vibrant 5-inch 1080p Full HD affair, one which benefits from a shatter and scratch resistant coating, 10 finger multitouch compatibility and an inbuilt light sensor.

With a premium price tag to match the premium components, the Sony Xperia Z is available from a selection of leading UK network providers and smartphone retailers, including the likes of Vodafone who are offering the device for free when tied to a £42 per month, 24 month contract. For those not wanting to tether themselves to a two year deal, one that will set them back a hefty £1,008 during that time, the Sony Xperia Z is also available on a SIM-free or PAYG basis from £549.99.

Sony Xperia Z Design

With a glass backed finish, similar to that of the iPhone 4S or Google Nexus 4, the Sony Xperia Z design sees the high-end manufacturing components held together by a minimalist, soft-touch rubber edging, a feature that, whilst maintaining a compact classy appeal, also helps protect the device from inevitable knocks, drops and bumps.
Having run the device under a tap, plunged it into a washing-up bowl and even made a call from the shower, we can safely say that the Sony Xperia Z waterproof credentials live up to their billing, leaving the handset in need of just a simple wipe down before going about its day-to-day tasks. Aiding this IP57 rating, all the handset’s ports are covered by hinged protective caps, tethered to the handset by sturdy plastic connections, components which offer more reassurance and a longer expected lifespan than those featured on some rival devices. Helping further ensure against water damage, the handset alerts you if these ports are left open.

Sony Xperia Z

Sony Xperia Z Screen

One of the handset’s key selling points, the Sony Xperia Z screen is a bright, vibrant and expansive delight, offering pin-sharp detail to images whilst making video playback an immersive joy.
A 5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen offering that boasts 10-finger multitouch capabilities, the Sony Xperia Z screen benefits from a staggering 441 pixels-per-inch image density for ultra-sharp, detailed images, as well as featuring a 16 million colour contrast ratio. What’s more, with a 1920 x 1080p resolution, Sony’s latest flagship offering is capable of supporting Full HD video playback, perfect for those keen on on-the-go movie and TV consumption.
Sony Xperia Z

Although the handset’s viewing angles are strong, they are not quite the best on the market, dulling brightness and muting colours when viewed from an extremely acute angle. In truth, however, this is an issue which will have little effect on day-to-day usage of the device.
Standing up to performance depleting glare quite well, the Sony Xperia Z screen is coated it a protective shatter proof and scratch-resistant coating, a feature that stood up well to being placed in a pockets with loose change for a couple of days. With an inbuilt light sensor, the Z’s display coped well with jumping between areas of shade and direct sunlight, quickly attuning the handset’s brightness levels to best handle the surrounding elements.

The sign of true love Taj Mahal, India

In spite of its Muslim origin this white marble necropolis became an actual symbol of India. Serious security measures are taken to protect it. There is a special 500-meter security zone established around the complex. Cars are to be parked 2 kilometers away, and the rest of the way tourists have to travel by rickshas, carriages, or electromobiles, because it's believed that car exhaust fumes cause yellowing of the marble facing. There is even a barbed wire fence on the opposite shore of Jamuna River, which runs beside Taj Mahal. Security personnel totals hundreds of men.
Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal of Agra is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, for reasons more than just looking magnificent. It's the history of Taj Mahal that adds a soul to its magnificence: a soul that is filled with love, loss, remorse, and love again. Because if it was not for love, the world would have been robbed of a fine example upon which people base their relationships. An example of how deeply a man loved his wife, that even after she remained but a memory, he made sure that this memory would never fade away. This man was the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, who was head-over-heels in love with Mumtaz Mahal, his dear wife. She was a Muslim Persian princess (her name Arjumand Banu Begum before marriage) and he was the son of the Mughal Emperor Jehangir and grandson of Akbar the Great. It was at the age of 14 that he met Mumtaz and fell in love with her. Five years later in the year 1612, they got married.

Taj Mahal

Mumtaz Mahal, an inseparable companion of Shah Jahan, died in 1631, while giving birth to their 14th child. It was in the memory of his beloved wife that Shah Jahan built a magnificent monument as a tribute to her, which we today know as the "Taj Mahal". The construction of Taj Mahal started in the year 1631. Masons, stonecutters, inlayers, carvers, painters, calligraphers, dome-builders and other artisans were requisitioned from the whole of the empire and also from Central Asia and Iran, and it took approximately 22 years to build what we see today.

Taj Mahal, aerial photo

An epitome of love, it made use of the services of 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants. The monument was built entirely out of white marble, which was brought in from all over India and central Asia. After an expenditure of approximately 32 million rupees (approx US $68000), Taj Mahal was finally completed in the year 1653

Taj Mahal, aerial photo

It was soon after the completion of Taj Mahal that Shah Jahan was deposed by his own son Aurangzeb and was put under house arrest at nearby Agra Fort. Shah Jahan, himself also, lies entombed in this mausoleum along with his wife. Moving further down the history, it was at the end of the 19th century that British Viceroy Lord Curzon ordered a sweeping restoration project, which was completed in 1908, as a measure to restore what was lost during the Indian rebellion of 1857:

Taj Mahal

Taj being blemished by British soldiers and government officials who also deprived the monument of its immaculate beauty by chiseling out precious stones and lapis lazuli from its walls. Also, the British style lawns that we see today adding on to the beauty of Taj were remodeled around the same time.

Taj Mahal reflections

Despite prevailing controversies, past and present threats from Indo-Pak war and environmental pollution, this epitome of love continuous to shine and attract people from all over the world.
